Gigabit Network Testbeds

This article presents an overview of five testbeds in the U.S. which are being developed to examine gigabit applications and network technologies. The research described includes distributed supercomputing using wide area high speed networks, and the exploration of alternative network technologies. The facilities involved include: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory.
