As home networks (HLNs) become more and more complex and have more and moredevices communicating via wireless means, it becomes imperative to establish howHLNs will remain manageable and efficient. The HLN requires the same capabilities asany wireless network: forward information to the right destination, protect itself frommalicious or accidental attacks, provide adequate resources to devices especially whendelivering multimedia content. However the scale of the HLN is usually much smallerthan usual LANs and combines fixed, mobile and nomadic devices with limitedresources. It is the goal of the Session to view the wireless HLN as a small ad hocnetwork and present solutions for wireless home networking that provide adequateresource management and quality of service.
