Scholars Portal: moving beyond simple metasearch

The Scholars Portal project is a collaborative venture joining seven ARL libraries and a software vendor to develop an integrated Web-based system that connects researchers, instructors and students with appropriate, vetted information resources. The project's initial focus has been on the meta-search "discovery" and direct linking "delivery" tools that provide the software and metadata foundation for the scholars portal. This paper provides the current progress of implementation and plans for the future.
