The title compound, C 14 H 12 N 4 O 3 , a pyrazolopyrimidine derivative, displays normal geometrical parameters. The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the pyrazolopyrimidine unit and the phenyl ring is 26.14 (4)°. The non‐H atoms of the ester side chain are coplanar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.009 Å) and this plane is almost perpendicular [dihedral angle = 84.31 (4)°] to the central ring system.
