The title compound, C 14 H 14 O 3 , is a starting compound for the synthesis of non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs and is an important substrate in the pharmaceutical industry. Whereas the methoxy group is almost coplanar with the naphthyl ring system, the ethoxy group is significantly twisted out of the plane of the aromatic system [C—O—C—C = −85.31 (15)°].
