The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mn 3 (C 5 H 9 O 2 ) 6 O(C 5 H 5 N) 2 (C 5 H 10 O 2 )], comprises two independent and similar [Mn III 2 Mn II O{(CH 3 ) 3 CCO 2 } 6 (py) 2 (CH 3 ) 3 CCOOH] (py = pyridine) molecules each with an Mn 3 (μ 3 ‐O) core. In each molecule, the Mn atoms have octahedral geometry with two coordinated pyridines bonded to two Mn III and a terminal pivalic acid coordinated to the Mn II atom.
