The title compound, C 8 H 4 N 2 O 4 , crystallizes with Z ′ = 2. The molecules are linked by a combination of N—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds into chains of edge‐fused R 4 4 (16) and R 4 4 (26) rings.
