The crystal structure of cylopentylamine monohydrate, C 5 H 11 N·H 2 O, is composed of molecular chains of alternating cyclopentylamine and water molecules which are linked by O—H⋯O and O—H⋯N hydrogen bonds. These chains are parallel to the monoclinic b axis and they are bridged by weaker O⋯H—N contacts, forming hydrogen‐bonded layers of molecules parallel to (100).
