The mol­ecules of the title compound, C 6 H 4 ClNO 2 , are almost completely planar. Hydrogen bonds of the form O—H⋯N inter­connect the mol­ecules to form infinite chains, which are also planar and which are packed face‐to‐face to form well defined layers of mol­ecules.
