In the title salt, C 20 H 21 N·C 7 H 7 SO·H 2 O, the quinolinium cation exhibits a large molecular non‐linear optical (NLO) response, as determined by Stark spectroscopy, but crystallization in the centrosymmetric space group P precludes significant bulk NLO effects. Intermolecular O—H⋯O and weak C—H⋯O hydrogen bonding links the constituent molecules into a three‐dimensional network.
