The title compound, [ZnBr 2 (C 4 H 8 O 2 )] n or ZnBr 2 ·(dioxan), has a zigzag chain structure in which the 1,4‐dioxan molecules link tetrahedrally coordinated Zn atoms. Each dioxan ring sits on a centre of symmetry. The Zn—Br distances are 2.3110 (8) and 2.3169 (8) Å, and angle Br1—Zn1—Br2 is 124.53 (3)°. The Zn—O distances are 2.054 (4) and 2.043 (3) Å, and angle O—Zn—O is 89.6 (15)°.
