The title compound, [Ir 2 Cl 2 (C 12 H 8 NO) 4 ]·1.5CH 2 Cl 2 or [Ir(fppy) 2 Cl] 2 ·1.5CH 2 Cl 2 [where fppy is 4‐(2‐pyridyl)benzaldehyde], is a dinuclear iridium(III) complex containing two six‐coordinate iridium centres connected by two bridging chlorides, which has crystallized with the solvent dichloromethane.
