Yellow crystals of the title compound, [Mn(dien) 2 ][Sb 4 S 7 ]·0.5H 2 O (dien = diethylenetriamine = C 4 H 13 N 3 ) were synthesized under solvothermal conditions by reacting MnSb 2 S 4 with pure dien. The Mn 2+ ion is in an octahedral environment of six N atoms of the tridentate dien molecules. The [Sb 4 S 7 ] 2− units, and anions are joined together to form two‐dimensional layers. In the layered anion, Sb 2 S 2 , Sb 4 S 4 and Sb 8 S 8 hetero‐rings are found.
