The title compound, [Ni(C 16 H 14 N 2 O 2 )]·C 3 H 7 NO, crystallizes with one Ni(salen) molecule [salen is N , N ′‐ethylenebis(salicylideneiminate)] and one dimethylformamide molecule in the asymmetric unit. The molecular structure is similar to that of the solvent‐free compound, known from the literature. In the crystal structure, the nearly planar molecules are stacked to form polymeric chains in the crystallographic b direction. The crystal structure has pseudo‐translational symmetry (superstructure).
