In a study of the rest period of cabbage, the writer found that full grown plants, which were removed to a greenhouse early in the fall, would not go to seed under relatively high temperatures. The plant shown in the figure was, with others, removed from the field October 8, 1925, and brought direct to the warm greenhouse in which the temperature averaged 700 F. This lot of plants was used as checks for comparison with others which were given a rest period. A similar lot was placed, for the same purpose, in the cool house in which the average temperature was 600. None of the controls in the warm house developed seed-stalks but continued vegetative growth, and by March 7, 1926, all the plants had developed compact
