NOTICE OF RETRACTION

Dhir, S.K., Dhir, S., Savka, M., Belanger, F., Kriz, A.L., Farrand, S., and Widholm, J.M. Regeneration of Transgenic Soybean (Glycine max) Plants from Electroporated Protoplasts. Professor Jack M. Widholm, on behalf of a11 the authors of the paper, has requested that we publish the following Notice of Retraction. One of us, Professor J.M. Widholm, asked the University of Illinois in July 1992 to review some of the data and interpretations in this paper [cited above] under the University’s Policy and Procedures in Academic Jntegrity in Research and Publication. Professor Widholm made this request because he and his collaborators were unable to reproduce the claimed transformation of soybean shoots and plants. An official investigation panel was convened by the University of Illinois, which concluded that the scientific evidence did not support the claim of soybean transformation made in the paper. The panel recommended formal retraction of the paper as originally proposed by Professor Widholm. This notice constitutes our official compliance with the panel’s recommendation. The authors truly regret the inconvenience and difficulties that this action causes Plant Physiology and its readership.
