The results of numerical investigations of the dynamical behavior of a blue-violet InGaN laser with a specially incorporated saturable absorber, are discussed. The existence of excitability was determined by the carrier lifetime, the absorption level in the saturated absorber and the cavity length. For the injected currents between 114 and 124mA, linear analysis shows the existence of a saddle close to a stable node. The results shows that a Hopf bifurcation was responsible for the appearance of self-pulsation under suitable condition
