Superconductivity has been observed for two structures of lamthanum. A close-packed hexagonal structure was found to have a transition temperature near 5.0 deg K and the face-centered cubic structure had a transition temperature of 5.95 deg K. The initial slope of the Hc-T curve for the facecentered cubic structure was 550 oe/deg. The transition temperature decreased with decreasing lanthanum content for the La--Y and La--Lu alloys stadied. (auth)
