The Chairman gave a short survey of the activities since the last meeting in Sapporo in 2011. The minutes of the subcommittee meeting of 2011 have been published (Schumann and Gvozdyak. Int J Syst Evol Microbiol 2012;62:755). Subcommittee members became editors or authors in Bergey’s Manual of Systematic Bacteriology Volume 5, entitled ‘The Actinobacteria’ and The Prokaryotes 4th Edition in Volume 6 ‘Actinobacteria’. Thanks to B. Tindall, G. Garrity and C. Parker the homepage of the subcommittee ‘Micrococcinae’ has been updated and was accessible at the time of the meeting.
