It is remarkable that although nearly a century has passed since the attention of physiologists was first attracted to the crustacean heart (Weber brothers, 1846), the available data which have accumulated on its activities are very scanty. It was with the aim of acquiring wider and more accurate information that the present investigation was undertaken onMaia squinado .
