The 2.7 day activity in198 Au has been studied by means of aβ -spectrometer of the lens type in conjunction with a special technique for studying theγ -radiation. Theβ -spectrum has an upper limit = 0.92 MeV. An absorption measurement on theγ -radiation in Pb shows that no high-energyγ -radiation is existent, as has previously been reported. Only oneγ -ray of medium energy (0.401 MeV) follows theβ -disintegration.
