The object of the present paper is to bring together some of the meteorological phenomena which depend on the turbulence of the lower atmosphere, to show how they depend on one another, and to demonstrate some numerical relationships which exist between them. The transference of heat, water vapour and momentum by means of eddies has been discussed by the present writer in a previous paper. It was shown there that the effect of turbulent motion on the atmosphere is to endow it with a power of transmitting heat in much the same way as a solid possessing a large coefficient of conductivity.
