This paper reports the highlights in the field of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and hypertension of the last European Renal Association (ERA-EDTA) Congress (London, May 21-24, 2016). The items include an European survey on CKD epidemiology and a multicenter, open-label, randomized controlled trial on the effect of renal denervation for hypertension management. Furthermore, a polar view regarding ABPM for the diagnosis and the monitoring of hypertension in dialysis patients is presented.
