Infections have increased in simultaneous pancreas/kidney transplant recipients (SPKTRs) with BK polyomavirus (BKV)-associated nephropathy (BKVN) being the most important infectious cause of allograft loss. Comparisons of BKVN with kidney transplant recipients (KTRs), however, are lacking.
