Transplant recipients have elevated oxidative stress, which has prompted suggestions that supplementary antioxidants may be beneficial. However, only a small number of clinical trials have investigated antioxidant supplementation in transplant recipients, with very few data on their effects on patients' immunosuppressive therapy.
