Molecular Biology and Evolution (MBE) publishes research at the interface of molecular (including genomics) and evolutionary biology. The journal publishes manuscripts containing patterns, processes, and predictions at all levels of population, taxonomic, functional, and phenotypic organizations. In addition to fundamental discoveries of broad scope and impact, MBE publishes new and improved methods, resources, technologies, and theories that significantly advance evolutionary research. This content is complemented by balanced reviews of recent developments in genome evolution and forwardlooking perspectives suggesting future directions in a field or application of molecular evolution. MBE is entirely owned by the Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution (SMBE) and is published by Oxford University Press in conjunction with HighWire Press. In 2013, MBE continued to serve the scientific community by providing an even higher impact venue to publish scientific discoveries, methods, resources, reviews, and perspectives.
