Statistical moment-based ellipse fitting was performed on observations ofLarge Magellanic Cloud clusters, confirming that trends are evident in theirposition angles and ellipticities, as had been reported in the literature.Artificial cluster images with known parameters were generated, and subjectedto the same analysis techniques, revealing apparent trends caused by stochasticprocesses. Caution should therefore be exercised in the interpretation ofobservational trends in young LMC clusters.Comment: 7 pages.
