The articles highlighted in this issue focus on data generated, viewed, or interacted with by patients or consumers. Such data are increasingly part of healthcare and research processes. Several papers also address the issue of racial bias or disparities.1-3 A variety of data sources, informatics processes, and tools are illustrated through the papers including machine learning,1,4 mapping to an information model,2 open notes,3 EHR-enabled dashboard,5 and conversational agent.4.
