Five cow-calf herds were used for comparing the effectiveness of 10, 15 and 20% Ficam (bendiocarb) ear tags with 8% Ectrin ear tags in controlling face flies and horn flies on pastured cattle. Cows in each treatment herd were tagged with 2 tags/hd during the first wk of June; calves were not tagged. Face flies were counted on the face of 10 cows/herd and horn fly numbers on one side of the same cows were estimated. The 20% Ficam treatment was terminated prematurely because of a change in the management of the cattle.
