‘Cargill 867’ field corn was planted 17 May in 36-in. rows at the Rosemount Agric. Exp. St., Rosemount, Minn. Plots were 16 row-ft, arranged in a randomized complete block with three replications. Applications of insecticides were made 5 July after shothole feeding injury and small larvae in the whorls were detected. Sprays were applied with a CO2 compressed air sprayer delivering 25 gal/acre and were directed into the whorl. Leaf damage ratings, using a 1 to 9 scale, were made 25 July.
