Seven treatments were evaluated for control of the grape phylloxera at Wooster, OH. Plots consisted of 2 adjacent grape vines, having 4 replications per treatment in randomized blocks. Vine spacing was 9 ft between rows and 8 ft within the row. Granular formulations (Temik and Furadan) were applied only once on Jun 3. Granules were incorporated into the soil 1.5 ft away from each side of the row. Granules were distributed uniformly in the bottom of a 2-inch furrow and covered with soil within 5 minutes. Soil moisture was good at time of application and granules were not watered-in. The rest of the treatments were applied on Jun 24 and Jul 12 as foliar sprays using a hand-operated CO, sprayer operated at 50 psi and equipped with a TeeJet 3D disc and No. 13 core. Sprays were applied to vines at the rate of 60 gal/acre. In sampling, 10 shoots were chosen at random from each plot, half from each side of the row. The number of galls was recorded from the 10 apical leaves on each of these shoots. Also shown are 1982 results of a survey made on May 25 of galls in previous year's phylloxera plots. (Initial results were reported I & A Tests 7:40; Report #49).
