Materials were applied to a peach block consisting of the varieties Loring, Red Haven, Sun High and Madison. Each treatment was applied to 3 adjacent 8-tree rows. Materials were applied with an airblast sprayer calibrated to 6 x concentration. Spray dates were Jul 2 and Jul 13. All sampling was carried out in the middle row, containing two trees of each variety. After spray had dried on trees, beetles were collected from treated trees and placed in organdy cages which were stapled to treated foliage. After 24 hours mortality was assessed. On Sep 7 foliar damage was evaluated. A scale of 0-10 was employed, where 0=no defoliation and 10=total defoliation. No fruit damage could be evaluated because early cold weather eliminated the crop. Mites were counted on 20-leaf samples using a leaf-brushing machine.
