On Apr 24, four rates of methornyl plus a water control were applied to seven year old apple trees bearing eggs of A. pomi and D. plantaginea. Application was with_a Swanson airblast sprayer calibrated to deliver 233.55 litres/ha (25 pga) from each side, at 3.22 Km/hr (2 mph) and 7.02 Kg/cm2 (100 psi) pump pressure. Both sides of the trees were sprayed. Single tree treatments were used and replicated four times. Data were recorded on May 4 as the number of aphid infested terminals observed in two minutes per tree. A terminal was considered infested if it contained one or more apterous aphids.
