Plots consisted of single row treatments 36 inches apart, 15 ft long, replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block design. Hand-pushed cone seeders were used to plant 100 seeds in each row and to distribute granules of insecticide. Spray treatments were applied at 50 gal water/acre using a CO2-powered spray unit mounted on a cone seeder.
