Three-yr-old avocado trees (30 ft x 30 ft spacing) located in a commercial grove in Santa Barbara County, CA, were treated on Sep 29. A randomized block experimental design was used. Applications were made by hand-gun with an FMC hydraulic orchard spray rig at 400 psi to run-off (ca 3 gal/tree = 150 gal/acre). Treated trees were separated by at least 1 untreated buffer both within and between rows. On Oct 7, fifteen leaves with light sixspotted mite (SSM) damage were randomly picked from each tree at a height of 2-6 ft above the ground. The undersides of the leaves were examined with a dissecting microscope foe all stages of SSM within 2 days of being picked.
