Sixteen sarcoptes mange mite positive hogs, approximately 3.5 mo old, were split into 4 groups of 4 animals per treatment. The treatment groups were isolated from each other by housing each group in separate pens. The treated groups were sprayed to run-off with the following materials on 18 Mar and again on 2 Apr using a power sprayer delivering 120 psi at a rate of 1 pt finished spray per animal: 0.03% Lindane, 0.025% Ectiban and 0.05% Ectiban. Treatments wee applied particularly on the ears, flanks and dorsal mid-line. The wails, doors and gates of the inside and outside pen areas where hogs rub were also sprayed to kill any free-living mites. The control group and their pen were not treated. Three, approximately 1 inch scrapings, were taken from inside the ears and examined for mange mites microscopically. Treatment assessment was made on day 7 following the first treatment, immediately prior to the second treatment and day 28 and day 56 following the second treatment.
