Hot peppers were transplanted into single row plots 20-ft long on 42 inch centers with 5 ft alleys between blocks on May 18, near McGee's Crossroads, NC. Plots were arranged in a randomized complete block design and replicated 4 times. Treatments were applied weekly beginning Jun 28 and ending Aug 2 for a total of 6 applications. All sprays were applied at the rate equivalent to 100 gallons/acre using a 2.5 gal CO9 pressurized hand sprayer equipped with a hollow cone nozzle, operated at 40 psi. Harvest yields and European corn borer counts were made on Jul 18 and Aug 9.
