Field corn 'Pioneer 3147' was planted on June 8. Plots were 20 ft × 4 rows with 5—ft alleys between blocks, and rows were spaced 40 inches apart. Treatments were replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block design. Corn was thinned to 30 plants/20 ft-row. On July 24, when 52% of the plants were infested, insecticide treatments were applied. Granular insecticides were applied into the whorls with shaker jars. Liquid formulations were sprayed with 2.5 gal compressed air sprayers at 40 gal/acre. Portable CO2 tanks supplied a constant sprayer tank pressure of 30 psi. Yields were measured on October 16.
