Seven insecticides were evaluated for control of moderate-heavy populations of vegetable leafminers and their parasites on ‘2-14’ celery. Plots were set up in the commercial celery fields of Duda Bros. Farm in Belle Glade, Florida. The celery was grown on organic muck during Feb - May 1978. Foliar sprays were applied at five day intervals from Mar 8 - May 17. A tractor-mounted boom sprayer with three *5 nozzles per row was used to apply 5.05 gallons per plot at 150 psi. Each plot was 20 x 20 ft with 150 celery plants in 30 rows with a 20 x 20 ft buffer separating the treatments. There were fourteen treatments randomized in each of four blocks. Experimental celery plots were separated from commercial celery by several buffer rows. The celery was sampled at three dates and the samples, each consisting of seven trifoliates, placed in pint sherbet containers. Twelve samples were collected/treatment. The emerged adult leafminers and parasites were counted six weeks after collecting.
