Small quantities of two candidate organotin miticides were tested for control of citrus rust mite on infested fruit. Mature oranges on ten]8-yr-old trees were examined for presence of rust mites. Ten fruit on each tree with population densities of at least 10 mites in each of two 1.2 cm2 lensfields searched per fruit were selected for use. Fruit was assigned randomly to a treatment and tagged for identification. Foliage and twigs touching the selected fruit were pruned to prevent immediate reinfestation. Quart aliquots equivalent to the rate/100 gal for each material were prepared and fruit immersed for 10 sec in the solution on Nov 28“77. Population densities per two 1.2-cm2 lensf ield per fruit were determined periodically after treatment.
