Each insecticide treatment was applied to 5 citrus trees (tree height ca. 8 ft) by a hydraulic sprayer as a dilute solution sprayed to drip. Two hr after treatment, field-collected adult weavils were caged on sprayed trees, 5 weevils/cage. Weevil mortality counta were made after 1- and 3-da exposure. Additional cages were added at 3, 6, and 9 da posttreatment when an insecticide demonstrated residual activity. Tests were conducted in September-October, the period of peak weevil activity.
