Five insecticides were evaluated for systemic activity against thrips. Stoneville 213 cottonseed were treated in a laboratory “tumbler” type seed treater on April 24‘78. All seed except the untreated check were also treated with Captan 30 Flowable and Vitavax 30 Flowable Fungicides at the rate of 1.2 oz A.l. each per 100 pounds. Plots were planted May 10‘78 at Custom Ag Service Research Farm, Loraine, Texas. Each treatment was replicated four times with each replication being two rows wide and 25 feet long. Plantings were made with a two row “cone” type planter with exactly 300 seeds being planted per row of each replication. Stand count, thrips count, and thrips damage ratings were made on June 9‘78.
