The test field located on the Rock Springs Agricultural Experiment Station Farm had been in continuous corn for five years. The mean root rating on untreated plants grown in the test field in 1977 was 3.15. The corn was conventional-til I planted in 30 inch single row plots each 40 feet long with 4 replications arranged in a randomized block design. Seven insecticides were compared by rate, site of application, or formulation.
