‘Funks G80’ was planted June 20, 1977, University of Georgia Experiment Station, Oconee County. Soil type was Appling sandy loam. Randomized complete block experimental design with 2-row plots x 20 ft long x 38-inch row width x 2-ft alleys with 5 replicates. Granular formulations of insecticides were applied at planting time either in the seed furrow (ca. 0.25 inches above seed) or in a 7-inch band over the seed furrow and incorporated ca. 0.25 inches in the soil. All plants were examined in the 6-leaf stage for lesser cornstalk borer damage.
