Soil applications of granular formulations of Temik and Furadan, and foliar applications of Rogor were compared with untreated controls. Three hundred nursery trees (near Gosford, N.S.W., Australia) were used; 5 replicates/treatment, 10 trees/replicate. The distance between rows and trees within rows was 76 cm and 15 cm respectively. Rogor was applied (to run-off) to all trees on March 30 ‘76, to standardise the population and to the specific treatment plots on May 5’76 and May 18’76. Temik and Furadan were applied on April 6’76. The granules were mixed into the top 2.5 cm of the soil and small walls were made around each group of 10 trees (15 cm from the trees) to prevent run-off. The number of active mines on 10 randomly selected leaves from the last growth flush was recorded on several dates.
