Twelve stanchion-housing dairy barns, 6 in Tompkins County and 6 in adjacent Schuyler County, New York, were selected to evaluate residual wall treatments of Ectiban for house fly control. All barns had a historyo f house fly populations warranting control during summer months. Test treatments were applied to 4 barns in each area, 1 dosageper barn, 2 applications. Two barns in each area served as checks. Aqueous coarse droplet spray treatments were applied to appropriate interior barn surfaces with a doublenozzle spray boom at 100 psi of pressure. A first series of treatments was applied in early June, and second treatments were applied in either mid-July or the first week of August (0.5% treatments, Schuyler County). Insecticidal treatments used check barns were ap-plied by respective farmers and consisted of space sprays, electric grids, and baits; these treatments were used either individually or in various combinations. House fly populations were monitored weekly by the number of fly specks deposited on 1" x 8 1/2" white paper strips.
