Alfalfa was planted at the Agway Farm Research Center, Fabius, New York, on April 23, 1975. First spray went on when alfalfa was 4-6 in. high; however, heavy rain of 1/4 in. washed off sprays which were reapplied on July 1, 1976 when alfalfa was 8-10 in. high. A complete randomized block design of 3 replications was used. Each plot was 12 x 25 ft (300 sq ft/plot). Clear seeding was done with seed drill 2 in. between units at 20 lb/A. On April 27, 1976, 600 lb/A of 1-10-40 fertilizer with boron was applied. Eptam and other PPI treatments applied on April 23, 1976. Broadcast foliar sprays were applied with 6 ft hand held boom with a CO2 bottle sprayer using 1/2 gallon bottles per plot and applying 72.6 GPA.
