Three experimental sites were located in 1975 problem fields in northwestern Illinois. DeKalb XL-45A was planted in 36 in single row plots each 100 ft long with 3 replicates arranged in a randomized block. Seven insecticides were compared by rate and formulation to Counter and Furadan. The treatments were evaluated by stand counts, root damage ratings based on the Iowa 1-6 system, and percent of plants lodged more than 30°.
