Insecticides were evaluated in seasonal program for efficacy against red mite using 3 Red Delicious apple trees per treatment. Treatments were applied to run-off using a hand gun and truck-mounted Myers hydraulic sprayer operating at 450-500 psi. Gallonage applied was ca 4 gallons/tree or equivalent of 350 gal/acre. Applications were made at petal fall May 8, and 6 cover sprays on May 19, June 2, June 17, July 2, July 19, and August 9, '76. Captan 50WP at 1 lb ai/100 gal included in all plots. BAAM and Imidan plots not sprayed until June 17. Regular Guthion program had Vydate 2L at 0.125 lb ai/100 added from.July 2, to end of season. Mites were counted by randomly collecting 25 leaves from 4-8' around each replicate tree, brushing mites onto glass plates and counting the day of sample.
