Phytotoxicity trials were conducted on 26 flower and foliage commodities commonly shipped from Hawaii. Twenty stems of each type were rated on visual quality by 2 observers, and the scores were combined for an overall rating score ranging from 0 (perfect) to 18 (complete necrosis). The stems were randomly divided; 10 were dipped in water for 15 min, and 10 were dipped for 15 min in a solution of Safer’s Soap at 72.4 ml (AI)/gal combined with Mavrik Aquaflow at 3.9 g (AI)/gal. The solutions were shaken off, the cut ends of the stems immersed in water, and the flowers and foliage left to dry without rinsing. They were kept at ca. 26°C and rated twice weekly for up to 3 wk. Mean rating scores for treated and controls were subjected to T test.PHYTOTOXICITY OF SAFER’S INSECTICIDAL SOAP AND MAVRIK AQUAFLOW AS A POSTHARVEST DIP, 1990: Phytotoxicity trials were conducted on 26 flower and foliage commodities commonly shipped from Hawaii.
